Another Picture of My Mei-Mei

Galena

Not a lot to say about this one. Easy pattern and I like the results. Do you?

Galena by Doris Chan

I began another project before completing all the others I'm halfway through. Shocker. But I'm really excited about this one! I was on Ravelry the other day and flipped through all the photos of finished Galena's. They all turned out so great! I've got to have one, and so I shall.

Another Mei-Mei

As you already know, I'm in love with Doris Chan's book Everyday Crochet, and I just can't stop making these cute little sweaters. Here is my latest one adding a little modesty to a strappy shirt.

Posh Pillows

What is a Posh Pillow you ask? Cassie from http://yougogirl.typepad.com/ knows all about it. The basic idea is a pillow case with an inner flap that covers up the ugly pillow end. To make it an even sweeter idea, add a crocheted scalloped edging to the open end. When I found the pattern on that blog I knew I had to try it, so I hopped in the car, went to Starbucks for coffee (slightly unrelated, but smart since you've gotta keep up the energy on a random craft hunt), and went to Joann Fabrics. Found it! I'm in love with the bird fabric, seriously. This craft was pretty easy and very fun but I discovered my true love is crochet, not sewing. Still, I'd do it again (and probably will).

Pot Holder and Coasters

Pot Holder (singular) isn't a typo. I've only made one, but I'm too excited to wait to show everyone! I mean seriously, how cute is this? It was made using a pattern from Crochet Today, as were the next project: Heart coasters! These coasters are lounging by the pool because they already did their years worth of work on Valentines Day (and because the lighting is better out there). It's vacation time until February 2011!

Crochet Thread Bracelets

I am completely obsessed with these crocheted bracelets. They take about an 1 1/2 hours to make and since crochet thread is available in so many bright colors the result is always fun =)

The first bracelet is the Julie Cuff from Blueprint Crochet
The Lotus Blossom Bracelets were made using a pattern by CreativeYarn

Look what I finished - Cinnabar - The Final Chapter

Ta-da! The moment you've all (or at least I've) been waiting for! The Cinnabar sweater is done. The sleeves were done, re-done, and re-re-done until they got to this point. I made a newbie mistake with hook size (kept the one from the edging, a size smaller than the body, when I began the sleeves) and it took me that whole time to realize it. Silly me, I paid for it. Sorry I couldn't provide an action shot (although it is blowing in the wind which is action, right?) but it doesn't fit me, it fits my mom, and she was too busy to get in a picture. That's okay though. One day when she least expects it, I'll capture that action shot and put it here where it belongs!

Stash Baskets!

I love making these! So easy. So crisp. Cotton is the way to go. I'm whipping up a couple more for around the house.

This little one is perfect for me to toss my jewelry into.

Next I want to make one with ribbon. Any thoughts?

Granny Square Blanket in Forever 21 Inspired Colors

I was shopping online the other day and stumbled upon a picture that caught my eye. In the background of the picture there was a granny square blanket in four perfectly modern complimentary colors. Score! I've been wanting to granny it up without becoming one. The squares aren't very big so I'll need around 140 of them to make a decent size blanket. I have 17 or so done. Little by little!

Cinnabar Update

I'm almost done! The problem is I've been almost done for about a month now. I'm bored. I don't want to finish it. Blah blah blah. You know how it goes. So I've decided that I'm forcing myself to finish the dang thing by the end of the month. Wish me luck!

Cinnabar by Doris Chan

Once again I've changed directions. I started this Cinnabar a few days ago and I've gotten pretty far. I'm done with the body and working on the edging. Once I'm done with that I'll add the sleeves. Here's a picture of hers and then mine.

So far I'm loving the fit. Fingers crossed that the sleeves fit too!

Runaround? No thanks.

I finished the runaround and was less than pleased. I made it at least a size too big, maybe more. You may or may not be able to see it in these pictures, but it fits me like a loose T-shirt. I want to try again with a thinner yarn and a smaller size. Here it is! Perhaps I'll sell it on etsy once I sew in the ends =)

Ignore the end-of-the-day hair and I-don't-like-it face.

If I clipped it in the back like they do on mannequins it would help.

Oh well. If you're interested in buying this piece I'll put in on Etsy for you. Just let me know =)

Distracted Again!

I've been crocheting my Runaround and I've got it past the armholes but I think I'm gonna set it aside for a few days. I was wandering around my local craft store when the current issue of Crochet Today caught my eye. Now I can't focus! I want to make the Nordic Pullover so badly! I mean seriously, is this cute or what? So I caved, bought the yarn, and once I finish up my last Christmas present (a statement belt) I'm gonna tackle this sweater.

More Projects from Everyday Crochet

Right now I'm working on Runaround in Charcoal Lion Brand Cotton Ease.

My yarn is worsted weight which makes me a little nervous since I just discovered the sample piece was made in a lighter weight yarn. Here's what I've got so far.

Next I'll be working on Tall Latte. I bought some pricier Pima Cotton for that project. Can't wait to start!

Pineapple Doily

This is a Christmas present for my mom. I crocheted this doily with a bamboo thread. It's sturdy but soft.

Stash Buster

When I first started crocheting I didn't know much about yarn so I bought a ton of worsted weight acrylic yarn only to discover it's not very useful for the projects I wanted to make. So I bought a massive hook and took four strands of yarn and went to town with HDC. This blanket helped get rid of my yarn stash so that I don't feel guilty buying yarn for specific problems. It's warm, colorful, and was an easy project. Here are some pictures. To give you a size idea, it covers a full bed.

Mei-Mei by Doris Chan

Two days ago I completed my second Mei-Mei from Everyday Crochet by Doris Chan. Here are some pictures of the projects being blocked and the final products. I made size 35 for a friend and 40 for myself. At first it was difficult to figure out how to follow the pattern, but once it clicked this project moved along quickly and was fun to do! I made the purple one in one eight-hour sitting. I don't suggest it though lol. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Introduction

Hey there,
My name is Stephanie. I frequent www.craftster.org and I noticed that many members have craft blogs. I thought, "hey, why not me?" so here I am! I've dabbled in quite a few crafts. I started with paper dolls when I was 6, moved on to knitting a scarf at 10, making candles and Italian photo charms at 13, sewing purses and crocheting small items at 14, and now I'm 19 and pretty much dedicated to crochet. It clicked for me in a way that knitting never did and there are so many new projects out there to make. I'm open to crochet-alongs and more than willing to answer crochet questions, so feel free to comment and follow my crochet blog.
